Become a Volunteer

Volunteers

We invite you to join us!

MS Queensland welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds and recognises the valuable skills and abilities they bring with them. In return, we manage our volunteers with the same care as our staff - offering training opportunities, valuable experiences and a chance to develop new skills.

Volunteering is a positive way to support your local community and people living with Multiple Sclerosis. Enthusiasm and a desire to help are the only qualifications you need.

Volunteering provides opportunities to:

  • make a difference
  • share skills and experience
  • learn new skills
  • teach others
  • gain valuable work experience
  • meet people and make new friends
  • increase your confidence and self-esteem

These roles provide the opportunity for volunteers to gain knowledge into various areas of interest, including event coordination and logistics, retail, customer service, community services, health and nursing. Get real first-hand experience in a non-for-profit organisation, test out a new job role, gain experience working with a person with a disability and build a network of professional contacts in the industry. There are a number of fantastic ways you can help, including:

EVENTS:

  • Being part of our exciting fundraising events
  • Working with the Events Team with behind-the-scences logistics and scheduling
  • Liasing with VIP guests and entertainers
  • Managing administrative mail-out collation and distribution

SOCIAL SUPPORT:

  • Regular visits  to a person at home to provide a specific service like gardening or cooking meals (simple task that we take for granted can be very hard for someone with MS)
  • Providing companionship
  • Accompanying residents, with other staff on outings from our Accommodation Centres
  • Sharing your skills and experiences
