The Australian Government, as part of its social inclusion agenda, wants to develop a new and stronger relationship with the third sector in Australia, which includes MS Queensland as a charity community organisation.
One way to do this is through a national compact. A compact is an agreement, developed together by non-profit organisations and government to set out a framework about how they want to work together now and in the future. A national compact provides us with the opportunity to develop relationships that are based on partnership and respect so Government and the sector can best work together on key social, economic and environmental challenges facing our community.
An online forum on the national compact commenced on 3 August 2009 and we are seeking your participation. A National Compact Consultation paper is currently available at www.socialinclusion.gov.au. The paper outlines why the government and the sector think a national compact is important. We encourage you to register to participate in the online forum - www.socialinclusion.gov.au/forums - which has been built to create a free and open exchange of views on the content and priorities of the compact.A Consultation Toolkit is also available for interested stakeholders to engage their own stakeholder groups and collect structured feedback on the compact.
The Toolkit is also available online and includes:
- A PowerPoint presentation (including presenter notes);
- A consultation feedback form (which includes key questions and prioritising eight priority action areas);
- The consultation paper; and
- A document showing the journey t of the compact (the Journey Map)o date for the development.
