MS Australia National Advocates assembled in the halls of Parliament House, Canberra for the 2nd Annual MS National Advocates Conference.
Over 30 MS Advocates from around the country gathered once gain for the 2nd Annual MS National Advocates Conference on Monday-Wednesday, 17th-19th August, 2009 to meet with different Members of Parliament who could help influence the agenda for people living MS and their families.
A number of excellent discussions were held and this year two Queensland Advocates, John Trigger and Suzanne Hadley, participated in panel discussions. John acted as facilitator on Employment of People with Disability, and Suzanne was part of the panel following up on a Carer’s inquiry from last year.
Great results have been achieved during the first ten months that the Advocacy group have been working together. Through one unified voice, the MS Australia National Advocates have forged strong relationships with members of Parliament and created further awareness of what it means to live with this disease.
The very informative sessions, organised by the MS Advocacy Team in Melbourne allowed people living with MS and their carers to learn what is being achieved in each home state and collectively the aims of the Submission for the 2010-11 Federal Budget.
