Oral treatment approved by TGA

E-mail Print PDF

The first oral treatment for Relapsing-Remitting MS has been approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

Cladribine, to be marketed under the name Movetro, was approved last week for use for a maximum of two years.

The drug’s developer, Merck-Serono, will now seek to register it after which time it will be available for prescription.  Until that stage, the company cannot comment on specifics like price, availability and start-up support.

Australia is the second country to approve the drug, following a similar move by Russian authorities in July this year.

Read Merck-Serono’s full statement here.

MS Australia – QLD will be in a position to provide more information once registration is complete.
