A draft report into disability care and support in Australia has been handed down by the Productivity Commission, firming the case for a National Disability Insurance Scheme.
The report gives an assessment of the current system, described as “unfair and inefficient” and recommends an NDIS model to provide the necessary care for every Australian with a significant disability.
If introduced, around 360,000 people would receive direct funding from the NDIS scheme – covering existing and new cases of disability.
