During MS Awareness Week Wednesday 25 May to Sunday 5 June we will be kissing goodbye to MS!
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the central nervous system that largely affects young adults. Raising awareness of MS has never been more important to ensure early diagnosis. There are a number of activities happening around Queensland to educate Queenslanders on the important facts about MS and its symptoms this MS Awareness Week.
In Brisbane, we held a huge event in King George Square on Monday 30 May from 7am – 9am as hundreds of commuters had their lips painted red for MS. It was a great opportunity to learn more about MS and a way to show support for the cause.
A number of Brisbane’s most iconic bridges and buildings will also be red at night during MS Awareness Week including Kurilpa Bridge, Brisbane City Hall, King George Square, QPAC and the Gateway Bridge in support.
Across regional Queensland our MS Support Groups – those living with MS - will be fundraising through the sale of Kiss Goodbye to MS badges ($3 each) and lolly bags ($2 each). Money raised will go back to providing support for those living with MS in the local area.
How you can help:
1. Wear red clothing and red lipstick during MS Awareness Week
2. Buy a Kiss Goodbye to MS badge or lolly bag from your local MS Support Group
3. Read up on the facts about MS and share the information with your friends, family and colleagues
4. Watch the NEW World MS Day Employment and MS videos on YouTube
5. Make your house or building lights red (if you are able to easily)
6. Encourage everyone to learn more about MS and donate to MS Australia – QLD.
Your support will help fund vital research projects in finding a cure for the disease. For more information email us at
