Congratulations to QAUHD whose innovative work was recently acknowledged at the 2011 CAN (formerly Community Action Network) Awards in the category Accessibility for All – recognising practices and design principles that create spaces and places that are accessible to everyone.
Architect, MS Queensland Board Member and MS Ambassador Wendy Lovelace is co-convenor of QAUHD and worked tirelessly to ensure Universal Housing Design principles were integrated into the MS Society’s own ‘Life at Annerley’ project. Wendy is part of an amazing team championing the Universal Housing Design principles to create more inclusive communities for everyone to enjoy.
The CAN Awards recognise and celebrate the work done in the community, private and public sectors to achieve inclusion and social justice outcomes. These awards focus on community drivers - people making a positive difference for the Inner-Brisbane community.
Together with the recent acknowledgment by one of Brisbane’s biggest builders that Universal Housing Designs are “easily achieved and affordable” QAUHD are certainly making a difference as community leaders for accessibility for all. For more information visit www.qauhd.org
