The announcement on 10 August 2011 for the recommendation of the introduction of a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), where insurance will be provided for all Australians, was greeted with much excitement.
The NDIS will see the biggest change ever to the community sector and it will take time to have the correct foundations laid. The planned start-up date in 2018 means a sustained, consultative campaign with the Government and community members is required to maintain the momentum to ensure the recommended outcomes from the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into disability care and support are met.
With your assistance we can help make a difference by continuing to share information and educate members of the community, including members of parliament, about the NDIS.
Members of the MS community are continuing to make a difference. For example, person with MS Wenda Shurety has met with her Federal Member, Ross Vasta who supports an NDIS.
We must continue to make sure as many people as possible get behind the NDIS! You can help to ensure the NDIS becomes a reality too. Spread the word.
